Holds the most
WoodLink Absolute II
8 qt of safflower or mixed seed; the perches close under a squirrel’s weight, and it comes with a pole.
A hopper is a roofed seed box with a ledge big enough for cardinals and jays: the WoodLink Absolute II holds 8 quarts and closes under a squirrel’s weight, and most camera feeders, such as the Birdbuddy, are hoppers too.

A hopper with a camera
Free bird ID on feeder visits; Birdbuddy says the solar roof can keep it charged in enough sun.
Biggest camera hopper
A 3.5 L bamboo hopper; keep the body dry between cleanings.

Birdfy · Camera feeder
Birdfy’s basic camera feeder: live view and 30-day clips free, and unlimited bird ID for life if you pick the AI Lifetime offer.
Keep in mind: Pick the AI Lifetime Free offer for unlimited bird ID with no renewal. On the AI by Subscription version the free app names up to 10 visits a day, and Plus ($79.99 a year for up to 2 cameras, checked Oct 9, 2026) makes it unlimited.
Birdfy · Camera feeder
A small Birdfy camera feeder whose current store offer includes unlimited bird ID for life.
Keep in mind: Plan for USB charging; count a solar panel as included only when the exact checkout bundle lists one, because the product and support pages conflict.
Birdfy · Camera feeder
A roomy 2.5 L Birdfy camera feeder with one camera; the free app names up to 10 visitors a day.
Keep in mind: After the seven-day trial the free app names up to 10 visitors a day; unlimited bird ID needs Plus, $79.99 a year for up to 2 cameras (Birdfy store, checked Oct 9, 2026).
Birdfy · Camera feeder
Two cameras at once, a close-up and a wider view, with a solar panel in the box.
Keep in mind: Birdfy does not say consistently whether a Plus term comes with it; compare it on hardware. Plus on its own costs $79.99 a year (checked Oct 9, 2026).
Birdfy · Camera feeder
Three camera angles, and unlimited bird ID for life in its current store offer.
Keep in mind: It supports at least 20 invited guests; choose another model for a fixed requirement above 20 because the maker gives no consistent maximum.
Birdfy · Camera feeder
A metal Birdfy camera feeder with built-in solar, when the build matters more than the bird-ID offer.
Keep in mind: Birdfy lists AI by Subscription for the Metal: the free app names up to 10 visits a day, and Plus makes it unlimited. For lifetime bird ID, the Metal 2 4K is sold with it.
Birdfy · Camera feeder
4K video, 5 GHz Wi-Fi and unlimited bird ID for life in its current store offer.
Keep in mind: Choose another model for memory-card recording.
FeatherSnap · Camera feeder
Two seed chambers for two foods at once; free photos, with bird ID and video in Premium.
Keep in mind: Budget for Premium per camera if bird identification or downloadable video is the reason for buying.
Harymor · Camera feeder
Records to a microSD card at home, with three days of free cloud clips; bird ID costs extra.
Keep in mind: Choose it as a 1080p camera; do not buy it for 2K live view because the detailed specification and a separate teaser conflict.
Avinory · Camera feeder
2.5K video saved to a microSD card, if exact capacity and size do not matter to you.
Keep in mind: Choose another model for a capacity-limited space or a specific field of view or construction material; the product page gives conflicting values for all three.
Wasserstein · Setup component
Turns a Blink, Ring or Wyze camera you already own into a feeder camera.
Keep in mind: A camera is not included; order only for one of the exact compatible models listed on the product page.
Birdfy · Camera feeder
A wooden Birdfy camera feeder with a solar roof; the wood needs resealing every 3 to 6 months.
Keep in mind: Birdfy recommends resealing the wood every 3 to 6 months. Choose a different body if you want to avoid that extra job.
Already own a Birdbuddy 2? It is no longer sold on its own; its page covers setup, care and the membership.
A hopper is a roofed seed box that lets seed slide down to a ledge as birds eat. The ledge gives room to bigger birds such as cardinals, jays and grosbeaks, and the roof keeps most rain off. A smaller hopper with a narrow perch limits larger birds, though it does not keep them out.
Seed at the bottom of a hopper can cake after rain or in humid weather. If it clumps, smells musty or shows mold, empty the hopper, wash and dry it, and refill with less. Fill only what your birds finish in a few days.
Project FeederWatch cautions against wood feeders that cannot be washed thoroughly. Metal and plastic hoppers are easier to scrub; Birdfy asks owners of its wood camera feeder to reseal the body every 3 to 6 months. Camera hoppers add a step: take the camera and battery out before you wash anything.
