Site measurement

We use Plausible and Google Analytics to understand which pages and tools are useful. Measurement includes page visits and actions such as using a tool or following a product link.

Tool events use fixed action categories. They do not include purchase amounts, placement answers, dates, notes or refill history.

Google Analytics is configured with analytics and advertising storage denied. This still allows measurement requests. Google receives connection information, such as your IP address and browser details. We send Google the page address without its query string, fragment or referring address.

Plausible provides aggregate reports about page visits, referring pages, time spent and scrolling. We send it the page address without its query string or fragment. Its service also receives your referring address, IP address and browser details.

Cookies and visitors in the EEA and the UK

This site sets no cookies of its own. Saved setups and refill history use storage on your own device, which never leaves it and which you can clear from My setup or in your browser settings.

Google Analytics runs with analytics storage, advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalisation all set to denied before it starts, so it stores nothing on your device and reads nothing back. That is why there is no consent banner: there is no storage to consent to. Plausible sets no cookies at all and does not follow you between sites.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the measurement described above is aggregate counting; we hold no account, no profile and nothing that identifies you, so there is no profile to export, correct or delete. Write to us through the contact page with any privacy question and we will answer it.

Third parties that can receive request data when you use this site: Google Analytics and Plausible as described above, Amazon when a product photograph loads or you follow a retailer link, and the manufacturer or retailer whose link you follow. If a display advertising network is added later, this page will name it and describe its consent mechanism before the first advertisement appears.

Your saved details

Saved setups use storage on this device. Public share links contain product choices, not your setup name or private details. Printing and downloading a backup leave private values out unless you select the option to include them.

Outside links

Following a retailer or wildlife-information link takes you to a service with its own privacy terms. Our tools never send your private estimates to retailers.

Retailer links on this site are affiliate links: they carry a tracking code so the retailer can attribute the referral and pay us a commission. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. The commission costs you nothing and changes no recommendation on this site; the affiliate disclosure page lists which links can earn one.

Product photos

Product photos load directly from Amazon’s image service. That service receives your IP address and normal browser request information when a photo loads. Selecting a product photo opens its corresponding Amazon product page.

Keep, restore or clear your data

Browser data can be cleared or lost. Download a backup if you want a copy, and keep files containing private values somewhere appropriate. Restoring a backup previews the setups and adds them alongside your existing work. You can clear saved setups and refill history from My setup. Never enter a router password or an exact home address in these tools.

Contact messages

Contact delivery is turned off. This site does not send contact messages.
